Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first title for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
His varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's maiden title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from that period of 2023.
The win also means the Russian has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.
"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my child her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.
His retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to question if his ability to play at the top level was finished.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.
He fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.
He defended 4 early chances in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
