Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then located many other marked cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; officials are currently not informed of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.
City officials announced they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for details.
A high-ranking representative commented the incident left him without words and had to be resolved quickly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant targeting residents of migrant background in 2020.
